How do I create a Quiz?

Creating a quiz in Compozer is a great way to assess learner understanding and make your course more interactive. This guide walks you through the steps for building a complete quiz — from adding titles and images to configuring each question type.

Step 1 – Add a Quiz Block

First, make sure you’ve added a Quiz Block to your course. You can do this by clicking Add New → Quiz within the course editor.

Step 2 – Set Up the Quiz Title and Description

Once your quiz block is in place, customise the title, subheading, and description from the left-hand sidebar.
This is where you can clearly introduce the quiz and set learner expectations.

Step 3 – Add a Quiz Image

You can upload or replace the default image that appears with your quiz.
Use a relevant, high-quality image to help the quiz stand out.
If needed, adjust the image position (left, right, or none) in the settings panel.

Step 4 – Add and Configure Question Types

Compozer supports several types of quiz questions, giving you flexibility in how you test learner knowledge.

Multiple Choice

  • Add a Multiple Choice question.

  • Enter your question text and answer options.

  • Select the correct answer in the sidebar.

  • You can choose to shuffle answers for variety.

  • Feedback options include:

    • None (default)

    • Any response

    • Correct/Incorrect

    • By choice (custom feedback per option)

  • You can also embed images, video, or audio to enhance the question.

Multiple Response

  • Add a Multiple Response question when more than one answer can be correct.

  • Enter your question and answer choices.

  • Mark all correct answers in the sidebar.

  • Media elements (images, videos, or audio) can also be added.

Fill in the Blanks

  • Create a sentence or paragraph and insert a blank for learners to fill in.

  • Add multiple acceptable answers if applicable.

  • Decide whether answers are case-sensitive.

  • Choose your preferred feedback type.

Matching

  • Use this type to let learners match items in two lists.

  • Write your question or prompt clearly.

  • Add pairs in the sidebar.

  • Include optional media (images, video, or audio) for added engagement.

Multiple Image Choice

  • Create a question where learners choose one correct image.

  • Upload images and select the correct one in the sidebar.

Multiple Image Response

  • Use this variation when multiple images can be correct.

  • Upload your images and mark all correct responses.

Step 5 – Configure Quiz Settings

In the quiz settings, you can:

  • Set the pass score

  • Enable Require a pass to complete (to prevent progress without passing)

  • Choose limited or unlimited attempts

  • Optionally hide the quiz summary

These settings control how learners interact with and complete your quiz.

Step 6 – Preview and Test

When you’re done, click Preview to experience the quiz as a learner would.
Complete the quiz to confirm that questions, answers, and scoring behave as intended.

By following these steps, you can create a polished, fully functional quiz in Compozer that keeps your learners engaged while accurately assessing their progress.
