At the moment the video is displaying a black screen is there a way to set a thumbnail or cover image from the video instead of that black screen? Am I missing something??

Yes, absolutely you can set a thumbnail (or cover image) for your video so it doesn’t just show a black screen.
Click on the video in your block and the Settings panel will appear on the right-hand side. You’ll see the file you uploaded, and just beneath that, there’s a “Cover Image” option. From there, you can either upload your own custom thumbnail/cover image or choose one from the royalty-free media library.
Once you’ve selected your image, it’ll appear as the video’s cover instead of the black screen.
